2007 Grande Vineyard
Napa Valley Zinfandel

Great Site, Great Vineyard, Great Lady.

Look for the signs that say Dried Prunes and Eggs For Sale. Then, go through the old farm gate (close it behind you), across the bridge, past the gardens and orchard, and just beyond the farmhouse and old barn. Then you see it.

This hidden gem of a vineyard above Napa’s Silverado Trail that was planted in 1920 by Theodosio Grande has been lovingly preserved by his daughter, Dorothy Rossi, and grandson, Tony Rossi, ever since. Situated on high ground above a creek, this 4 acre living museum of Zinfandel vines is for us, as good as it gets - like getting to go back in time to make wine from the best stuff around. The intensity of flavor of Zinfandel from these low yielding organically-farmed 89 year old vines is stunning and captivating. Wild blackberry, mince meat pie, berry liqueur, peppercorn, apple pie spice all make an appearance on this grand stage.

In 2007, nature’s forces aligned with the Rossi’s diligent vineyard care to produce something extra special: a memorable Zinfandel of deep character, great structure and soul that will transport you to another place and time. And remember to shut the gate behind you as you leave. Just 387 cases produced.
